2012 In Review
Time is really strange when you think about it and I tend to think about it often. If you think of a year as a fraction of your life then as you get older it really does pass by faster. And thats exactly how I feel. 2012 came and went so fast I feel as if I didn't accomplish a lot of what I wanted to. I think it will help me if I break it down by month and really see how much did happen. Also, I will make sure to post my 2013 goals so that I can hopefully make more of the year this time.
January- I was finally out of my ankle boot (from breaking my ankle the previous Thanksgiving) and out and about. I went back to work and tried to get out of the house more. Eric showed me how circuit bending worked and we had a fun time messing with old toys and trying to make funny sounds.
February- My best friend Ashlie came to visit me in Portland and we had a great few days together. It was around Valentines day so we made lots of Valentines treats together. I didn't know my way around Portland all that well yet so we didn't do a whole lot. I can't wait for her next visit (in about a week!), I know so much more about this city now and am very eager to show her around much better this time.
March- In March there was some drama in the house I was living in and a misunderstanding about pets and the lease. In the end of it I decided to move out and found a room to rent in a house that was close to Eric's apartment and close to our work. It wasn't ideal at all, but it worked for the time being. Also, I got to live with this dog Olive, who barked a lot, but was a very sweet dog.
April- April was super fun, because Eric and I took a week long trip to San Francisco. It was pretty much the first time I had been back since moving and it was so amazing to see all my friends again and for all of them to meet Eric. Some of my friends started a production company and put on their own performance of the Vagina Monologues and helped raise $3000 for the Women's Building in San Francisco. They asked me to help out with the ticket booth the night of and I was so grateful that I was able to help at all and be a part of it. Also, Eric's sister lives near SF so we were able to take the train down to Stanford and stay a night with her.It was so fun to show him around the city that I adore and show him all my old stomping grounds as well as do some new things together. We have a lot of great pictures from that trip so I will leave you with this one of us in a Japanese Photo Booth (Puri Kuri).

June- I love June, because it's my Birthday month!! My birthday this year was very different than last year, because I don't have the friend group that I had built for myself back in San Francisco. But I did have a very good birthday and some friends and I went out to one of my favorite bars for a night out. Eric was very sweet and got me wonderful presents and an ice cream cake! It really was great.
July- Eric had to say goodbye to his old van which was hard for him, because it was the last thing he had of his late grandfathers and because he had had it for 10 years. On the bright side he purchased a brand new car and I was able to come and be the stern hard sale and help talk the price down. Also, Eric's mom came to visit and I got to meet her! Now that I have met Eric's mother and sister the only one left is his dad.

August- August was a very busy month. My mom and step dad came to visit and it was their first time meeting Eric. We had a really good time together! We showed them some of our favorite restaurants and walked around a lot and even went kayaking on the Willamette. Later in the moth Eric and I took his new car for a week long road trip to California to visit my brother's and go to my family's cabin at Huntington Lake. We split the drive up into two days and stopped by Sacramento to visit my oldest brother Nick for lunch on our way to my other older brother Alex's house in Fresno. I wish we could have hung out with Nick longer, but he was busy with work and school. We spent a few days at my family's cabin and it was a blast. The whole gang was Eric, Emily the dog, my brother Alex, his girlfriend Candice, their dog Sailor and me. It was so fun and we can't wait to do it again this year and for longer. Also. my dear friend Kerry from San Francisco moved to Portland and so far she is loving it!
September- Eric turned 30! I made Eric a pie and we had a very fun and relaxing day. Also, we attended MFNW this year and Wild Nothing's show fell on Eric's birthday so that was really cool. We saw a lot of great bands, but our favorite was definitely Future Islands. Also, Eric and I moved in together! We got a great house (actually the bottom part of the duplex) and we absolutely love it.
October- We had a great time doing fall festivities this year. I don't even know how much pumpkin bread I baked! We carved pumpkins this year and Eric tried to do one of the fancy ones you print out and trace on. I carved a constellation into mine. We also had fun dressing up for Halloween. We had a lot of ideas for what we could be, but then ended up going to Goodwill and finding some pretty good ones. Emily was a Pumpkin, I was an Airplane and Eric was a Pilot. We had to work that night, but it was fun to wear our costumes to work.
November- November 10th was mine and Eric's anniversary, we kept it low key but had a wonderful day together. Thanksgiving was the highlight of November. We went to my friend's Kerry, Elisa, Jacqi, and Emily's house for a Friendsgiving night. Their friends Eric and Blake as well as Kerry's parents were there. It was a great time full of delicious food and good conversation. Here is a particularly lovely picture of Eric.

December- December was bittersweet. We got really unfortunate news that our dog, Emily, had a mammary tumor and separately but also very urgent needed most of her teeth removed. Eric and I weren't planning on going home for Christmas anyways so were able to get our dog fixed up asap. We ended up having a very relaxing Christmas at home just the three of us and as of day Emily got her sutures out and is healing just fine! We had a bountiful Christmas and we all got stuff we needed and wanted and loved. Emily is the cutest and she got a panda hoodie for Christmas! Also, I started a second job at the cafe down the street from our house. I really like it there and I hope to only work there soon and leave the pizza shop.

May- Not a whole lot happened in May, but we did have a bit of a warm streak in Portland which was nice, because summer doesn't really hit until July and it's pretty short when it does. I bought a backpack so I can take Emily on bike rides and we took our first trip of the year to the river. It was still freezing, but super fun.

So that was our 2012! I feel like I came a long way in my personal life and Eric and I had a very great full year together. This next year I would really like to focus on my career. I really am not sure what that means, but I am sick of working food service with no end in sight so I need to figure it out! Happy New Years and I dont know about you, but I am wishing for a productive 2013!
