Christmas Recap!

Eric and I had a very different Christmas this year. We decided to just spend it with each other in our home in Portland. We had originally decided that we would forgo the hassle and expense of traveling during the holidays in order to afford a few week long trip to Europe in the spring. However we got sad unexpected news in the beginning of December that our dog Emily had a mammary tumor and massive teeth problems and needed surgery asap. We then turned our Europe fund into save doggie fund and were thankful we had already been saving and not traveling for the holidays. We missed our families a bunch but had a very relaxing couple of days of cooking, baking, watching christmas movies and snuggling with a healing pups. Here are some snap shots of how we spent Christmas time.

I made my own light up village! DIY found here

Last minute Christmas decoration addition to our front window.

A tradition to-do list! We had a great time attempting all of them. Some of them (errr the doughnuts) didn't turn out so well.

Our delicious Christmas Eve dinner we made ourselves: Curried Parsnips and Squash. We will definitely be making this dish again.

Christmas was very different this year, but we had a great time spending it together. Eric says that Christmas is hard because no matter what someone is upset (in this years case it was our parents, because we did not come home) which I guess is true but in the grand scheme of things it is a wonderful time and we were very grateful to have each other and be able to call our families and talk and give love and thanks.
