Portland Weather

The weather has been totally wild in Portland. Last weekend it was absolutely beautiful here in the city. It was pretty cold, hovering around the low 30s, but the sun was shining. Eric and I bundled up and biked to the bluffs.

Aren't are bikes cute together?

The Skidmore Bluffs is one of our favorite places to hang out, especially on beautiful days. It's a short bike ride from our home and we usually pack a picnic, a game, and a book and soak up the sun. It over looks some train tracks, the river, and you can see the NW side of the city in the distance. It's not a very big park and can get crowded in the summer, but on a sunny wintery day it was secluded and beautiful.

It's hard to soak up the sun when you have to bundle up, but I think we took in some Vitamin D (at least I hope so)!

And then a few days ago Portland weather took a turn and dropped down to the teens and low 20s. The past couple days there was random snow falling in the middle of the day. The snow never lasted long, it would fall for a bit and never stick. But today, Portland is having a FULL ON SNOW STORM! I realize that there are snow storms all over the country and people living in other places deal with this every day during the winter, but us living in our West Coast bubble don't know how to hang with this! I don't even own a car, I ride my bike everywhere and I can't ride my single speed road bike in a couple inches of snow! Portland is just not equipped for dealing with snow like this. Luckily, I work two blocks from my house so getting to work is not an issue for me. I'm actually totally excited about the snow sticking to the ground. Weather reports are predicting that we could be getting up to 6 inches of snow! I don't even know if Portland has ever experienced something like this! I am bummed that dance classes have been cancelled, although I'm not sure how I would have been getting to the studio anyways. I am taking the time to stay home and be productive on a variety of projects I have been trying to work on/finish.

Me in front of our house in the snow!

Fresh powder piling up!

MAX train when the snow was just starting to stick.

It's so hard to get a picture of snow falling, but despite how bleak the picture looks it really is very pretty out.

Ok Ok Ok, I know that snow falling isn't that big of a deal to most people, but for someone who has never lived where it snows this is actually super fun. I hope it sticks around for a day or two!
