Smash Putt
The other day when everyone was sitting in front of their televisions watching the Superbowl, Eric and I had a little adventure. Portland was unbelievable sunny that day, despite it being in the low 30s outside, and we went out and had some fun and soaked up some Vitamin D. We also went down to China Town in NW Portland to check out Smash Putt. Smash Putt describes themselves as a "MEGA Miniature Golf Apocalypse!" It's 21+ miniature golf set up by artists so each hole is basically its own art installation. There's also a bar to allow for drinks and therefore more fun! All of the holes were really cool ideas and super fun to figure out. Smash Putt travels around to other big cities and is actually only in Portland for 2 months.
The waiver made it extremely clear that all of the holes were thought up and installed by artists, not mechanical engineers so we had to be careful!
Here are a couple holes. The lighting was very dark and added to the divey bar atmosphere, but made for poor photos. Sorry!
This hole was fun! You dropped your ball in and then tried to get it to come out of one of the holes with a smaller number. Then whichever number it came out counted as your strokes for that hole.
This whole had two parts: First, you spun the wheel and landed on a scrach and sniff box. You had to smell it and guess what the smell was. There were all kinds of smells, I landed on natural gas and Eric got taco truck. Second, there were a row of holes labeled with the different smells and you had to get your hole into the smell you landed on.
This car was a hole too! There were buttons on the side where you could mess with the hydraulics! It was wild and I was a little worried about how safe it was.
This hole was crazy and you can't even tell what it is from this photo, but it was a golf ball shooting gun! You loaded one golf ball at a time and shot the gun through this cage at a variety of hanging targets and a piano. This hole didn't really count for anything, none of them really did anyways! We got to sit there for as long as we wanted and shoot golf balls at things. It was definitely one of the most dangerous aspects of the course.
The very last hole took your ball and drilled a hole in it. I don't know why, but it was neat!
Here's are scorecard. We never even totaled it up, but the pencils are fantastic! We had a lot of fun playing around and I definitely want to go again with a big group.
